Welcome to KidzCare Pediatrics where you will find health care professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality medical care to our patients and families. We’ve had the privilege of providing pediatric care in NC since 2003 and now extending into Georgia as of 2017.

Dr. James E. Schwankl was born in 1943 in Richmond, Minnesota. He graduated in 1965 from St. John’sUniversity in Collegeville, Minnesota. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Minnesota in 1969. Dr. Schwankl completed his internship and residency at Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital from 1970 to 1972, Babies and Children’s Hospital, Care Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH in 1972. He received his degree in Epidemiology from The School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina in 1974. Dr. Schwankl has Forty-Five years’ experience in Pediatrics.
Dr. Schwankl resides in Siler City, NC with his wife of 42 years. They are blessed with 5 children and 9 grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys beekeeping, gardening, playing the cello, singing and acting in armature theatre.
Juan C. Beteta, MD, FAAP
Dr. Beteta was born and raised in Guatemala. From a young age he wanted to be a physician. He completed his Medical School at Francisco Marroquín University in Guatemala. It wasn't until medical school that he decided to pursue a career in Pediatrics. After completing his pediatric residency program at the University of South Alabama Hospital, Dr. Beteta took the path of private practice in the MS Gulf coast for 7 years. Subsequently he moved to Virginia for a few years before landing in North Carolina. He enjoys traveling and has participated in medical missions to Latin America, has also worked with Navajo populations in New Mexico. Dr. Beteta enjoys hiking and spending as much time with his children as possible. He has four children with two in college and two still at home.
Dr. Beteta's emphasis is assisting parents in the care of their children focusing on a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise to combat the growing epidemic of overweight and obesity that can eventually lead to other chronic health problems. Dr. Beteta enjoys the practice of general pediatrics with special interests in asthma and allergic disorders. Dr. Beteta looks forward to helping you promote the best health for your children.
Kimberly Houston was born in Asheboro, North Carolina and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also obtained her Master of Science in Nursing at UNC-Chapel Hill and is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Kimberly has thirteen years of experience in Pediatrics and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Kimberly resides in Pittsboro, North Carolina with her Husband and 2 daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, waterskiing, baking and reading.
